I have just received an email from Mr. Williams in which he says that they are to meet today to decide the extension period, and it is as follows:::

Dear all,



Thank you all for your various emails.



A. Here are some clarificatory notes about the
second training report:

1. The glossary should consist of sixty terms, with equivalents
listed in the three languages – Arabic, English and French. You can use any
order.

2. The glossary should be included in the appendix and does not
count towards the number of pages.

3. For the body of the report, you have to choose between one of
three topics:

a. A
study of one aspect or one activity of the place where you are working,
analyzing it, uncovering any deficiencies or weaknesses in the way it operates,
and suggesting solutions to deal with these. Please note that this is not
simply a description of the place you are working in like you did last
year.

b. A
study of the specificities of the language used in the place you are working
in.

c. Select a document (of 5-8 pages) that you have translated during
your stage; describe its background, nature and purpose; and discuss the
difficulties you faced in translating it. You do not have to translate a
document specially for this.

4. If
you choose to do the translation option, that should also be put in the appendix
and does not count towards the number of pages.

5. The form of the research paper should be as follows:

a. Introduction (about 2 pages) in which you give a very brief
description of the place where you are working insofar as it is required by the
subject you have chosen.

b. Body of the report, where you deal with the subject that you have
chosen (no less than 8 pages).

c. Conclusion (about 2 pages) where you draw some conclusions, share
things that you have learned, and mention any follow-up that you feel should be
done.

6. The overall length of the document should be from 12-20
pages.



I hope this is clear enough for you all. If you still have

B. Many of you have written to me asking for an
extension for the hand-in date for your research papers. The heads of section
will be discussing this on Thursday (May 21) and I will let you know later on in
